Violin Systems was a Bronze Sponsor at Dell World 2012 and presented a powerful collaborative solution with Dell at this year’s conference, featuring PowerEdge servers and Violin 6000 Series flash memory arrays.
All-Flash Database Acceleration for Oracle Database on RHEL
The joint Violin-Dell solution is an open architecture platform for high-performance in-memory database acceleration. The solution (pictured above) features an Oracle database running on Red Hat Linux, connected to a pair of Violin Systems 6616 flash memory arrays, Dell PowerEdge R820 rack servers, Dell storage and networking equipment, and Oracle ASM for storage integration. Showcased on the “Moment of Impact” area at the center of the conference, this “better together” solution and open architecture provide customers a concrete example of how they can achieve in-memory speed for tier-1 applications and databases without the cost and complexity of solutions like Oracle Exadata.
Along with the VMmark benchmark record that Violin and Dell announced during the conference, this solution demonstrates how the two companies are working together to push the performance envelope and help businesses operate at the speed of memory.
